Sombath & Laos’ international reputation

Vientiane has never adequately addressed the 2012 disappearance of prominent community activist Sombath Somphone, a globally recognised figure. His apparent abduction indelibly scarred Laos’ international reputation.

  1. Even with the new President and a moderate Prime Minister taking over the power last year, they still don’t want to adequately resolve the issue behind Sombath’s disappearance. No matter how many times international outlets and such want the government to admit its crimes and how a third party will try resolving the problem discretly, the government will all still turn them down, how terrible it is!
